Vintage Translucent Blue Mold Blown Glass Swirled Pattern with White Cross Stripes Muffineer or Sugar Shaker Metal Screw-on Lid
Description: A beautiful old mold-blown glass sugar shaker or muffineer. This blue translucent glass shaker has a round flat base and a swirl or ribbed pattern with a cross swirl white line decoration. It has rounded sides extending to a shoulder supporting a neck having a short threaded end on which a metal lid screws. The neck does not have the glass swirl pattern the rest of the shaker has but has the same white colored cross swirl lines. The metal lid is dome shaped and has 16 holes distributed evenly throughout its top. Of course the holes are there to shake the powdered sugar out. A beautiful old piece in great condition, which would make a great addition to your collection. Please carefully review the photos presented as they are part and parcel of our description.
Date: Uncertain but most likely early to mid 20th century, could be earlier.
Origin: Purchased at an estate sale in Southeastern Pennsylvania.
Size: The muffineer is ~4 3/4" tall, ~2" in diameter at the base and weighs almost 8 ounces.
Condition: This shaker is in excellent condition with no breaks, cracks, chips, hairlines, or repairs. It does have some minor scratches to the glass surface but more so to the lid. The lid also has a couple of shallow dings and a few small stains. The lid is in such good condition that we suspect that the piece was never used or that the lid is a recent substitution to the original lid. Be that as it may, the piece looks great and would make a great addition to your collection or can be used in your kitchen. Please see photos for additional condition information and to appreciate the piece's beauty.
