2001 Tim Strawser Carved Wood Painted Primitive Folk Art Small Sliding Lid Box
Description: A hand carved wood and polychrome painted American Folk Art box. This small wooden box has a sliding lid and is decorated with white carved stars with red centers on all four sides and on top of the lid. two of the sides of the box are raised and have notched edges with white dots. The top of the lid is also raised and has the notched edges and the white dot decorations. The front and back sides of the box have the stars right on the side and not raised or decorated with the notched edges. there are white dots in the four corners. The bottom of the box is signed and dated by the artist. The onside of the box is not painted and neither is the bottom of the lid and they all show the bare wood. The box construction appears to be held together with glue. Just a wonderful and nicely done piece of American Folk Art to add to your Americana Collection. Origin: Purchased at an estate auction in Lancaster County Pennsylvania.
Size: Measures ~2 1/2 by ~2 1/2" at the base and is ~2 3/4" high to the top of the star on the lid. Taking the stars into account the box is ~3 3/4" by ~3 1/4" is dimensions.The piece weighs about 3.2 ounces.

Distinguishing Characteristics - Most Interesting About The Piece: Truly a nice and colorful piece of Americana, which would make a worthy addition to your collection.
Condition: The box is in very good condition, with no breaks, cracks, losses, or repairs. It does have minor scratches, minor dings to the surface, and minimal loss to the paint. The piece is also soiled and dusty and would benefit from a good cleaning. However, we leave that to the discretion of the new owner. Please see photos for additional condition information.
