2018 Hand Carved Polychrome Painted Wooden Primitive Black Colored Crow Wire Legs Yellow Beak By Daniel and Donna Strawser
Description: A hand carved wood and polychrome painted American Folk Art figure. The carving shows a black colored crow with wire legs standing on a tall cylindrical base. The crow is black with white eyes and a yellow beak. It is standing on a tall brown colored cylindrical base having black and orange colored highlights. The bird's legs are made of twisted wires and the bulky crow is made in the Wilhelm Schimmel style with the bulky body and primitive features. According to Dan Strawser this is a black crow. It has a yellow beak and white eyes. The carving shows minimum details, but is very well done. Just a wonderful and nicely done piece of American Folk Art to add to your Americana Collection. Origin: Although originally from Robesonia, Lancaster County. Daniel Stawser lives in Maine with his wife Donna.
Size: Measures ~9 1/4" high with the base measuring ~2 7/8" in diameter and is ~4" high. The piece weighs about 12 ounces.
Maker: Daniel and Donna Strawser.
Marks: Marked in black coloring on the base ”DAN + DONNA STRAWSER 2018.” Donna painted the piece while Daniel is the carver.
