Antique Pewter Deep Basin Crown and Rose Mark Made in London
Description: An antique deep pewter basin or bowl having a flat narrow rim and an incised lines on the exterior side walls. The bowl has a footed round flat base. The sides of the bowl are rounded and slightly outwards flared upwards to the flat rim. The bowl is marked in the center of the base with a crown and rose within a shield with the words "MADE IN LONDON" split on the top and bottom of the shield. The bowl, which we believe is form the mid to late 1800s is rather substantial and very well made and shows the lath marks on the bottom of the base. It has a small crack at the rim which we show in several of the photos. It is great looking and has a beautiful silver look. The basin was obviously cleaned to give it its original look and when it was cleaned it shows some deep and dark scratches on the bottom of the inside which can be seen in the 5th photo. Please carefully review the photos presented as they are part and parcel of our description.
