1968 Royal Copenhagen Georg Jensen Large Annual Mug w/ Sterling Silver Medallion

Description: This is a beautiful blue and white large cylindrical mug with an applied handle. The mug which is dated 1968 is from the Annual Mugs series issued i n the period 1967-2014 by the Royal Copenhagen pottery of Denmark. This pottery mug has a flat round base with a central button made of Sterling Silver. The button, which would benefit from a good polish, is marked "925 S DENMARK" in two lines and "GEORG JENSEN" in a circular fashion. The curvy linear design on the mug encompasses the date 1968 within it near the top. The mug has additional markings on the base indicating it is made in Denmark. A real nice piece which is very desirable by collectors of Toby Mugs. Please carefully review the photos as they are part and parcel of our description.

Date: This mug is dated 1968 representing the second annual issue in the series.

Origin: Denmark.

Size: The mug is ~4" in diameter at the base, ~4 1/8” in diameter at the top, ~4 1/2" high, and is ~5 3/4" at its widest including the handle. The piece weighs about 1 pound 3 ounces.

Maker: Royal Copenhagen.

Marks: On the base in black under glaze the following markings: Beehive with the word DENMARK under it and the letter S to the right. There are also the numbers 828/3135 to the left and a circle with an unknown mark on the opposite side of the base. The sterling button has the marks "925 S DENMARK" in two lines and "GEORG JENSEN" in a circular fashion. There is also the number 3135 impressed into the base near the edge. Distinguishing Characteristics - Most Interesting About The Piece: This is a real nice 54 years old piece in great condition, which is very desirable to collectors of Royal Copenhagen and Georg Jensen.

Condition: The Mug is in excellent condition. It has no chips, cracks, hairlines, crazing, or repairs. The piece is a bit soiled with the foot being a bit darkened with soiling and the Sterling Silver button, on the bottom, being a bit tarnished. It would benefit from a good cleaning to bring out its full beauty, but we leave that to the discretion of the new owner. Please see photos for additional condition information and details.
