"Rare" 1938 Roseville Pottery 8 Inch Tall Green Fuchsia Bulbous Vase w/ Handles

  • $ 97.77

Description:   A most beautiful and rather rare green colored art pottery vase by the Roseville Pottery Company.  This tall bulbous (~8" high) vase is in the Fuchsia pattern. The pattern shows small hanging pink flowers and large heart-shaped leaves on a green and dark salmon toned background. The background is partially smooth and partially textured. Just a great and rather rare pattern. This pattern was made by the Roseville company in 1938. Please carefully review the photos presented as they are part and parcel of our description.

Date:  1938.

Origin:  Purchased at an estate auction in Southeastern Pennsylvania. It was of course made in Roseville, Ohio.

Size:  The piece measures ~6 5/8" wide including the handles with the base being ~3 1/4" in diameter and is ~8" in height. The piece weighs one pound and 12 ounces.

Maker:  Roseville Pottery Company.

Marks:  The piece has a very faint impressed mark, which we are unable to make out except for part of the word Roseville. This is the way these old pieces of Roseville are supposed to be. See similar example of vase with a faint impressed mark in page 118 of Mark Moran's book "Roseville Pottery, Warman's Companion" published by Krause Publication in Iola, WI, in 2006.

Distinguishing Characteristics - Most Interesting About The Piece:  This is a truly nice and rare piece which is very difficult to come by.  The colors are rich, fresh, and vivid and the pattern is relatively crisp. It would display very well in your collection.

Condition:  The piece is in good condition after being around for over 85 years. It has no cracks, hairlines, or repairs. It does have general crazing to the glaze, which is very difficult to see but is there. The pattern is just beautiful and very well done (see 4th photo for details). The vase has a chip at the foot, which we show in the sixth and last photo, and can be seen in the 8th photo as a small missing piece to the side of the base. Be that as it may this is hard to notice and the piece would display nicely. Because of this issue, we are selling the piece AS IS at a fraction of its true value. Please see photos for additional condition information.
