Halcyon Days Enamels Small Round Enameled Box Lady Bug on Green Leaf In Original Gift Box Made in England
Description: A beautiful small round enamel on copper box by Halcyon Days Enamels of England. The red box has a screw on lid that looks very much like the antique (18th century) Battersea enameled patch boxes in shape and profile. The lid of the box is decorated with very colorful transfer depicting a red lady big on top of a green leaf all on a white colored background. The box is undecorated but has a beautiful red coloring with a brass top on which the brass bottom of the lid screws on. The base of the box extends slightly outwards. The inside of the box is also enameled and has a white coloring without any decoration. Of course as is always the case with these English enamels these decorations are transfers as opposed to being hand painted. The bottom of the box is also red in color and has the maker's mark. The brass ends of both the box and lid are clean and add immensely to the beauty of this dainty box. The box comes with its original card box lined with velour like material with a central hole where the enameled box fits nicely. This is the original gift box in which this nice small and dainty piece came. The piece also comes with a small booklet titled "The story of Halcyon Days Enamels," which is included in this sale. Size: The enameled box is ~7/8" in diameter at the base and is by ~11/16" high to the top of the lid. The gift box itself is ~2 3/4" by ~2 3/4" by ~1 1/8. The entire item weighs about 2 ounces.

Marks: Marked on the bottom with the Halcyon Days mark consisting of the words Halcyon Days Enamels England and the words Bilston Battersea Enamels Revival below it all within an oval shape made of leaves on a branch with a logo we know consists of a lion and a unicorn standing against a shield with a crown on top. There is also the words "by Appointment to Her Majesty the Queen Suppliers of Objects D'Art" under the logo. Additionally, the gift box itself is marked with the same logo on the top of the cover and has indication that the manufacturer is "by Appointment to Her Majesty the Queen Suppliers of Objects D'Art" and has additional markings in gold again on the back of the lid.

Condition: The box is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, repairs or crazing. The box is clean and the lid closes very well. The gift box is also in very good condition and no observable problems except for some light scuffs and a small loss of color along the edges and the corners.
