Limoges France Hand Painted Trinket Box Wide Rim Traveling Hat By Parry Vieille
Description: A beautiful and very interesting small hand painted porcelain trinket box from Limoges France. The box is in the shape of a wide rim traveling hat of days gone by. The top of the box shows the top of the traveling hat with a brown colored center button on top and w ide rim decorated with stickers of cities visited; namely, Paris and New York. The hat also has a brown ribbon along the intersection of the bowl of the hat and its rim. The ribbon is tied into a knotted bow with its ends resting on the rim. There is also the image of a pocket on the bowl, presumably to keep small valuables. The box has a hinged lid with the hinge equipped with a flattened center to serve as a stopper for the box's lid when opened. The entire box is colored in beige or khaki with brown highlights and black dots. The box has a round flat base that is white in the color. The box has a thumb piece in the form of a knotted bow. This is a very interesting box with a hinged lid. Both top and bottom of the box are fitted with brass frames at the edges with a hinge on the back and a locking thumb piece attached to the front of the bottom portion. The inside of the box is white in color with the bottom half having a hand drawn design representing a necktie. The top half of the inside is undecorated and is white in color. The exterior bottom of the box is marked with the maker's mark in black lettering. This is a very nice piece from Limoges France to add to your collection of small trinket boxes.
