10 December 1941 Bank of the Belgian Congo Ten Francs Banknote Pick 14 Very Fine

  • $ 177.77

Description: A nice very fine banknote from the Belgian Congo. This is the December 10, 1941 ten Francs currency note issued by the Bank of the Belgian Congo. The banknote is green on blue and pink underprint. The front depicts the Watusi Dancers with trees and a hut in the background to the left of center. The front also has the serial number and two signatures. It also shows the denomination in numbers and in French. The back is written in Flemish and depicts huts, trees and soldiers again colored in green with blue and pink underprint. The note has a watermark showing the head of an Okapi and is dated 10.12.41. This particular note has the serial number E673292, which is displayed twice in black on the front. Please carefully review scans presented as they are part and parcel of our description.

Date: 10.12.41 (December 10, 1941).

Printer: Waterlow & Sons Limited of London England.

Size: The banknote measures ~5 1/8" by ~3 3/8".

Pick Number: P 14 and is listed in the Banknote Book as B211a.

Condition: I would grade this banknote as very fine with all the details still preserved. The note has several vertical folds and a horizontal fold. The note has overall wrinkling and may have been lightly pressed. The banknote is soiled and has brown colored stains on the front and back. The note has some minor roughness to the edges but has no tears or splits. The corners are rounded with the top right corner of the front have a small missing part. The note retains some of its original stiffness and crispiness. The note has no graffiti, no pinholes, and no major objectionable stains. This is a nice example of this rather interesting and elusive note, which would make a nice addition to your collection. Please view the scans presented for additional condition information.
