1905 German East Africa Bank 10 Rupien Banknote Pick Number 2 VG to About Fine
Description: A nice very good to about fine or better Banknote from German East Africa. This is the 15 June 1905 ten Rupien currency note issued by the German East Africa Bank. The front of the banknote is black on red underprint. It shows the port of Dar El Salam, the name of the bank, the denomination, one signature, and the serial number. The back has a guilloches design in red and green with the name of the bank and the denomination. The banknote has a watermark depicting an interlocking GD pattern but no security thread. This particular note has the serial number 17293 shown twice in red on the front and only one signature. This is Pick Number 2 and I would grade it a very good to about fine. Still a nice note from a country that no longer exists to add to your collection. Please carefully review the scan as it is part and parcel of our description.
Date: June 15, 1905.
Printer: Giesecke & Devrient.
Size: The banknote measures ~5 1/4" by ~3 3/8".
Pick Number: P 2 and is listed in the Banknote Book as B102a.
Condition: I would grade this banknote as very good to about fine. The note has seen quite a bit of circulation. It is soiled but has no large objectionable stains. It has creases both vertical and horizontal. The edges show considerable roughness and some losses but the note has no major tears or splits. The not has no graffiti, but has rust marks from a paper clip at the top left corner of the front and the top right corner of the back. The note has all of its details preserved with the details still well defined. The note has pinholes and a small central pinhole resulting from excessive folding and unfolding. The corners are intact with bumps, creases, and are rounded. A rare banknote still in nice condition, which makes worthy of a spot in your world banknote collection. Please see scans for additional condition information.
