1914 Mexico Provisional Government 100 Pesos Revalidated Banknote Pick No. S709b
Description: A nice, large size very fine or better Banknote from Mexico. This is the 1914 issue known as Gobierno Provisional De Mexico 100 pesos Revalidado (revalidated) paper currency. This is the series "F" 100 pesos. The banknote depicts Liberty seated at left in black and white with shield in one hand and an olive branch in the other. The shield has the date 1914. The center has a black and white eagle with spread wings and having a snake in its beak with two volcanoes behind it (the Mexican Arms) all over a reddish-brown to pink underprint on the front. The back blue in color with a central image of a one-peso coin having Liberty's bonnet in its center. The back also displays the denomination in the four corners. The note has the words "REVALIDADO por decreto de 17 de dicimbre da 1914" stamped on the front in red. This banknote was issued on September 28, 1914 in Mexico City, according to the September 19, 1914 decree, and was revalidated on December 17, 1914. The note also has two red seals on the back, one round and the other being oval in shape. This note has the serial number 365721 on the front twice in red and does not display the serial number on the back. It is a series F issue and has two signatures on the front. It has no water mark that we could find. The paper of the note is thick and has some of its original stiffens left. The note's colors are still there with minimum wear and fading. Condition: I would grade this banknote as a nice very fine or better with all the details being well preserved. The note has multiple vertical folds but no horizontal folds. It is soiled but has no splits, no tears, and no pinholes. The corners are rounded and have bumps. The note has no graffiti or large objectionable stains. The edges show general light roughness and a few minor nicks but again no tears or splits. Just a nice piece to add to your collection.
