1940 National Bank of Egypt 50 Piastres Banknote Signed Edward Cook P21a XF 40
Description: A nice extremely fine banknote from Egypt. This is the 17th January 1940 very desirable 50 piastres banknote issued by the National Bank of Egypt. The banknote has a green image on multi colored and white background. It depicts the image of King Chephren statue in profile within an oval frame to the left of the front. The back shows the crescent and three stars, the Egyptian symbol at the time, to the left and again in green over white background. The banknote shows decorative designs of flowers near the bottom corners both on the front and back. The back also indicates that the note was issued under decree dated 25th June 1898. This particular note has the serial number 021867 and is from the series A/9, which is displayed three times in black lettering on the front and not on the back. The note has a water mark depicting a scarab in the center near the bottom. It is signed by Edward Cook the governor of the National Bank of Egypt at the time. The banknote is graded Extremely fine 40 by PMG and comes in a plastic holder so labeled. Please carefully review the scans presented as they are part and parcel of our description.

Condition: The banknote is graded Extremely fine 40 by PMG and comes in a plastic holder so labeled. It has all of its very well preserved. The note is clean with several vertical folds and no stains. The note has no observable roughness along the edges, no graffiti, no pinholes, and no tears or splits. The corners are nicely squared, intact, with minimum rounding if any and a few minor bumps. A very nice banknote, worthy of a spot in your collection.
