1990 South African Reserve Bank Fifty Rand Banknote Pick Number 122 Uncirculated
Description: A beautiful uncirculated Banknote from South Africa. This is the South African Reserve Bank fifty Rand note issued without date but known to have been issued in 1990 and is signed by C. L. Stals the governor and president of the bank at that time. The banknote is red in color on multicolored underprint. The note depicts the image of Jan van Riebeek to the left and the image of a lion in the underprint in the center of the front. The back of the note has the same color scheme as the front and shows animals drinking from a watering hole left and plants to the right with mountains in the background and the sun above. The note has a watermark showing the head of J. van Riebeek as well as a solid security thread left of center. The note is written in English and Afrikaans. The front has one signature and the serial number as well as the denomination. This particular note has the serial number AD6604396 E, which is displayed twice in black on the front. Condition: I would grade this banknote as uncirculated. The note has no folds, no wrinkling, and no stains. It has no pinholes, no graffiti, no tears, and no splits. The note shows some waviness along the top and bottom edge, but these are artifacts of the processing and the properties of the paper. The note retains all its original sheen, stiffness, and crispiness. Its edges are intact and show no signs of roughness, but again show waviness, which we believe are original to the making of the note. The corners are fully squared with no appreciable rounding or damage of any sort. A great looking example of this beautiful note to add to your collection.
