2 Antique Crystal Perfume Bottles Sterling Silver Tops Birmingham London England

Description: A lot of two antique crystal perfume bottles having ground glass stoppers and sterling silver tops. Both bottles are made in England in the 1910-1920 period. They are both made of facetted crystal and look great, one is made in Birmingham and the other in London. The first bottle, is round ball-shaped with a sterling silver hinged lid covering a ground glass stopper. The sterling silver top is fully hallmarked with an anchor (Birmingham), Lion Passant (Sterling Silver), r for the year 1916-17. The bottle has a maker's mark, which appears to say A?P & Co. Ld, which we are unfamiliar with and hence unable to identify the maker. This bottle is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks or repairs to the glass. The sterling top is a bit bumped and has several dings, but has no breaks or repairs. The second bottle is trapezoidal in shape with a neck, in which a ground stopper fits. The neck is covered with sterling silver that is fully marked with a Leopard's Head (London), rampant lion (for sterling silver), the letter "S" for the year 1913-14. The bottle also has a maker's mark that we do not recognize and we are unable to read fully. The bottle is in good condition with no cracks or repairs, but have minor small chips along the corners and edge of the base. The sterling top is intact with a few scratches but nothing else. Two antique crystal perfume bottles with sterling silver tops which would make a great addition to your collection. Date: One bottle is datable to 1913-14 and the second is datable to 1916-17. 

Origin: Purchased at an estate auction in Southeastern Pennsylvania. Bothe bottles were made in England, one in London and the second in Birmingham. 

Size: The round bottle measures ~42.5 millimeters in diameter and is ~61 millimeters in height with the lid closed. The trapezoidal bottle measures ~37.5 mm by ~35.5 mm at the shoulder and is ~74 mm in height with the stopper on. Both pieces together weigh almost 5 ounces. 

Maker: unknown. 

Marks: Both bottles are fully hallmarked. The round bottle has an anchor (for Birmingham), Lion Passant (Sterling Silver), the letter "r" for the year 1916-17. The bottle has a maker's mark, which appears to say A?P & Co. Ld, which we are unfamiliar with and hence unable to identify the maker. The trapezoidal bottle is marked with marks showing a Leopard's Head (for London), rampant lion (for sterling silver), the letter "S" for the year 1913-14. The bottle also has a maker's mark that we do not recognize and we are unable to read fully. 

Distinguishing Characteristics - Most Interesting About The Piece: A nice pair of interesting antique perfume bottles made of crystal glass with sterling silver tops worthy of a spot in your collection. 

Condition: The two perfume bottles are in very good condition. The round bottle is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, or repairs to the glass. The sterling top is a bit bumped and has several dings, but has no breaks or repairs. The trapezoidal bottle is in good condition with no cracks or repairs. It has some minor small chips at the corners of the base and along the edge of the base. These are minor and hard to see, but can be felt. The sterling top is intact with a few scratches but nothing else. The bottles are lightly soiled, with the sterling tops being slightly tarnished. They would benefit from a good cleaning but we leave that to the discretion of the new owner. Please see photos for additional condition information.
