3 Figural Bottle Stoppers Corks Two Men Wearing Hats & Third Man with Mustache
Description: Offered here is a lot of three bottle stoppers with corks having a carved wooden top. The stopper2, which have cork material on the bottom supporting a wooden carved depicting a man in all three cases. The carvings are nicely painted. The first stopper depicts a clean-shaven man wearing a high hat and smoking a cigar, the second depicts a man in a green jacket and having a mustache, while the third shows a clean-shaven man wearing a round flat hat with a big smile. These are well done carvings with nice colors and the corks are intact as are the carvings. They have no breaks or repairs, with one having some loss of color at the base of the carving (the third man wearing the flat round hat). Very well-done carvings of the wood portions making these corks or bottle stoppers very collectible and great conversational pieces. Origin: Was purchased at an estate auction in Southeastern Pennsylvania. These were probably made in Europe, most likely Italy.
Size: The man smoking is ~4 3/4 long with the cork portion being ~1 1/2" long, the man withe mustache is ~4 1/4" with cork portion being ~1 1/2" long, and the man with the flat round hat is ~3 5/8" long with the cork portion being ~1 3/8" long. All three pieces together weigh about 2.2 ounce. Maker: Unknown.
Marks: Unmarked.
Condition: The pieces are in very good condition with no breaks and no repairs. They do have some soiling in the form of dust. The pieces have scratches, some surface dings, and minimum loss of coloring. The stopper with the man wearing the flat round hat has loss of color at the base of the carving. Other than that, the pieces are wonderful and deserves a spot in your collection. Please see photos for additional condition information.
