3 Figural Bottle Stoppers or Corks 2 Men Wearing Hats Woman Wearing Head Scarf
Description: Offered here is a lot of three bottle stoppers with corks having a carved wooden top. The stoppers, which have cork material on the bottom supporting a wooden carved depicting a man in two cases and a woman in the third. The carvings are nicely painted. The first stopper depicts a man with mouth wide open laughing with his teeth showing. He is wearing a small round green colored hat. The second depicts a man in a green jacket and wearing a round bowl brown colored hat. The third stopper depicts a woman with an open mouth having a red and green shits and a polka dot green head scarf with off-white dots. These are well done carvings with nice colors, and the corks are intact as are the carvings. They have no breaks or repairs, with all three having some minor loss of crock material at the bottom edge. This loss is insignificant but is mentioned for completeness. Very well-done carvings of the wood portions making these corks or bottle stoppers very collectible and great conversational pieces. Origin: Was purchased at an estate auction in Southeastern Pennsylvania. These were probably made in Europe, most likely Italy.
Size: The laughing man is ~4 1/4 long with the cork portion being ~1 1/2" long, the man wearing the bowl hat is also ~4 1/4" with cork portion being ~1 1/2" long, and finally the woman is ~4 1/4" long with the cork portion being ~1 1/4" long. All three pieces together weigh about 2.1 ounce.

Condition: The pieces are in very good condition with no major breaks and no repairs. The laughing man showing his teeth has a small chip to the bottom edge of his hat. In addition, all three have some minor loss of crock material at the bottom edge. This loss is insignificant but is mentioned for completeness. They do have some soiling in the form of dust. The pieces have scratches, some surface dings, and minimum loss of coloring. These stoppers are wonderful and deserves a spot in your collection.
