Antique Heavy Pewter Ladle w/ Hardwood Handle & Thick Hemispherical Shaped Bowl
Description: A nice antique pewter ladle with nicely shaped turned wood handle and a Hemisphere shaped thick pewter bowl. The bowl is ball shaped with a facetted pewter handle in which a turned and nicely finished hardwood handle screws. The pewter portion of the handle is curved and has six facets and the turned wood portion is straight and screws into the pewter portion of the handle. The wood portion of the handle has a double domed terminal. The wood is decorated with incised lines and has a beautiful brown finish. We believe the wood of the handle is hardwood, but we are not sure what type, possibly walnut. The ladle is what we would characterize a half a ball bowl which is ~3 1/2" in diameter at the top and is ~1 1/2" deep. The handle has been lacquered and looks very nice and the bowl has developed a nice warm gray age patina. The wood handle has some minor scratches and dings, but is intact and solid. The bowl itself also has some scratches and some minor ding. Be that as it may, this a nice piece worthy of a spot in your collection.
