Beautiful Lustrous 1851 Three-Cent Uncirculated Silver Coin NGC Graded MS61
Description: A beautiful mint state silver 1851 three-cent piece (Trimes). The date 1851 represents the first year for this type of coin. The coin is graded by NGC as Mint State "MS61". The coin has a mintage of 5,447,400. It is in an NGC slab. The coin itself is better than the photos suggest and shows very good details with points of the stars completely visible as well as the outline of the shield on the obverse. The date is very readable as are all the legends. As you can see from the photo, the details on the reverse are also very bold and all there with no observable wear commensurate with its mint uncirculated state. It is our opinion that the coin is under-graded and deserves a higher grade, but you be the judge. The coin has quite a bit of its original luster and has great eye appeal. These coins were designed by James Longacre and were minted in Philadelphia and New Orleans. This coin is from the Philadelphia mint.
