Old Turned Single Piece Wood Butter Print Eagle Spread Wings Design Knob Handel
Description: A beautiful antique turned and chip carved single piece wood wooden butter print. The butter print, which is made of a single piece of wood, has the very desirable design of an American eagle with hooked beak and stylized spread wings. The eagle is in the center within a toothed edge. There is an 8-point star to the left of the eagle's head and a flowing floral stem to the left of the bottom of the eagle. The body of the eagle is decorated with cross hatched carved design. The print has a round flat surface with nice carved design of the eagle. The eagle show lots of intricate details. The print has a knob like handle with a flat top. Again, the entire piece is made of a single piece of wood. Date: Unknown but most likely mid to late 1800s (mid to late 19th century).
Origin: Southeastern Pennsylvania.
Size: Measures ~4 1/2" in diameter at the design part and is ~3" high. The print weighs slightly over 2.7 ounces.

Distinguishing Characteristics - Most Interesting About The Piece: Very good antique butter print with a nice and rather well executed design. A nice antique butter print, which would make a great addition to your collection.
Condition: The piece is in good condition given its age and utilitarian function. It has general wear and minor losses along the edge of the print itself. It has an age crack near the to ~1 1/4" long and another tight hairline at the bottom of the design, both can be seen in the photos. There is also soiling and staining to both the top and the design itself, which again, they can be seen in the photos. The piece has no repairs and has acquired a nice age patina. It also has general wear, with some roughness at the top of the knob like handle (see next to last photo). The piece has some soiling and general wear to the surface.
