Pair Antique 10 1/2" Tall Push Rod Brass Candlestick Holders Square Chamfer Base
Description: A beautiful pair of antique ~10 1/2" tall and heavy brass candlestick holders (together the pair weighs about 2 pounds and 15 ounces). The candlestick holders have square chamfer base and a bell-shaped transition into a central stem. The a stem has an inverted tulip shape and two circular bowl-shaped rings supporting wax collar sockets. Both candlesticks retain their push rods within the hollow bodies. The socket has a flange like extension on top, that is curved and inwards slanted, to collect the molten wax. The socket is ~1 1/8" deep and is ~1" is diameter, with the curved ledge around it extending ~3/4" from the edge of the hole. Date: Uncertain but most likely mid to late 19th century (mid to late 1800s) could be a bit earlier.
Origin: Purchased at an estate auction in Southeastern Pennsylvania. The candlesticks are most likely of English origin.
Size: Both pieces measure ~10 1/2"" high with the base measuring ~4" by ~4". The socket where the candle would fit is ~1 1/8" deep and is ~1" is diameter. It has a ledge all around it extending ~~3/4" from the edge of the hole and is curved. Both pieces together weigh about 2 pounds and 15 ounces.

Condition: The candlestick holders are in very good used condition. They have no breaks, repairs, or obvious defects. They do have a few minor surface scratches and are soiled with some minor waxy residue. The push rods are stuck and do not move and we have not tried to force them to. We believe the candlesticks can be cleaned to bring them back to their original beauty and functionality, but we leave that to the discretion of the new owner.
