Turned Single Piece Walnut Wood Butter Print Deep Carved Swimming Swan Design
Description: A beautiful vintage turned and carved single piece walnut wood wooden butter print. The butter print, which is made of a single piece of wood, has the very desirable and exceedingly well done design of a swimming swan having raised ruffled wings. The print has an arched back and a round knob handle. The print has a complex carved band along the edge with rays and notches design. The swan is deeply carved and shows of feathers as well as water below it. The print has a round flat surface with a deep carved design of the swan. The swan show lots of intricate details. Again, the entire piece is made of a single piece of wood and has been lightly varnish coated. Please carefully review the photos presented as they are part and parcel of our description.
Date: Unknown but most likely early to mid 1900s (early to mid 20th century).
Origin: Purchased at an auction in Southeastern Pennsylvania.
Size: Measures ~4" in diameter at the design part and is ~2 5/8" high. The print weighs slightly over 4 ounces.

Distinguishing Characteristics - Most Interesting About The Piece: Very good vintage butter print with a nice and rather well executed design. A nice butter print, which would make a great addition to your collection.
Condition: The piece is in very good condition given its age. The piece has been lightly varnished and has some age hairline cracks seen mostly on the back. These cracks (3 of them) start at the handle with two extending to the edge of the print and showing up on the print with one extending about 3/4" into the design. There is a fourth hairline which starts within the design and extends about 3/4" into the back of the print (see third and fourth photos). There is also soiling and some minor scratches as well as minor dings throughout the back. The piece has no breaks or repairs and is all original. A great, uncommon piece to add to your collection.
