Antique Pewter Tumbler or Measure Half Pint Imperial Marked Walker with Crowned X

Description: An antique tall pewter cup, tumbler, or measure. The cup has markings on the exterior says "HALF PINT IMPERIA" and a crown surrounded by three Xs. The cup has a round footed base with outwards rising flared sides having ribbed bottom near the base. The cup has a plain rim decorated with ribbing right under it. The cup has what we believe are initial of an owner or of the Assayer who used it. The inside of the cup is plain with the mark "WALKER" in the bottom. We believe the cup is from the early 1800s. It is rather substantial and very well made. The piece has a few scratches, some minor dings and general soiling, which we believe can be cleaned to bring the piece's full beauty. The tumbler looks great for being over 200 years old. It has a nice gray age patina and would display very well in your collection. Date: Uncertain but most likely early 19th century.

Origin: Was purchased at an estate auction in Southeastern Pennsylvania. The piece was most likely made in the United Kingdom.

Size: The cup's base measures ~2 7/16" in diameter at the base, is ~3 1/16" in diameter at the top, and the piece is ~3 5/8" high. The measure weighs slightly over 9 ounces.

Maker: Unknown.

Marks: Marked in the center of the bottom of the interior "WALKER", it has the marking "HALF PINT IMPERIAL," it has a crown surrounded by three Xs and has the initials C.M.G.G. with the letter R and DS above the initials in smaller lettering. See photos for additional details.

Condition: It is in good condition. The piece is from the early 19th century and as such shows signs of its age and use. It is rather substantial (weighing over 9 ounces) and is very well made. The measure has a few scratches, some minor dings and general soiling, which we believe can be cleaned to bring the piece's full beauty. The tumbler looks great for being over 200 years old.
