Description: A beautiful silver crown size coin from the France. This is the 1871K five francs coin from issued by the modern republic. This coin is a two-year issue and has the words "DIEU*PROTAGE*LA*FRANCE****" or "God Protect France" in raised lettering along the edge. It displays a Laureate woman's head (France) bust wearing a Pearle necklace and having a star above on the obverse. The head is surrounded by the legend "REPUBLIQUE FRACAISE" surrounding it along the edge. There is also the legend "A.E.OUDINE.F." below the head. The reverse shows the denomination in the center within a wreath. It also displays the date and the letter "K" at the bottom for the Bordeaux mint. A beautiful and scarce coin in very fine condition to add to your collection. Please carefully review the photos provided as it is part and parcel of our description.

Date: 1871.

Mint: Bordeaux, France.

Size and weight: Coin weighs ~24.6 gm of 0.900 silver and is ~37 mm in diameter.

References: It is KM #818.2.

Condition: I would grade this coin as very fine or better with all the details of the coin being still well preserved. The coin is nicely toned and shows wear commensurate with its age and circulated state. It shows wear to the hair and additionally at the high points on both the obverse and reverse. The legend along the edge shows considerable wear but is still discernable. The coin has scratches, minor dings and a few bag marks on the surface of both sides. Otherwise the coin is problem free with nice eye appeal. It would make a great addition to your collection. Please see photos for additional condition information.
