1989 Carved Wood Polychrome Painted Shorebird Decoy Signed Glenn Prince '89

  • $ 49.99

Description: A nice polychrome painted shorebird decoy. This carved wood decoy is painted and shows the bird standing on a wooden base with its head pointing slightly sideway and down. The bird has black colored eyes and a black colored beak. The bird is attached to the base with a thin cylindrical wood leg painted in yellow. The bird is gray and white in color with black and white highlights throughout its body. The bird is well done and is signed on the bottom of the base both in black ink "Glenn Prince '89" in block letters (see last photo). A nice-looking piece which would make a good addition to your collection or can be used as a decorative accent in your shore cottage. Please carefully review the photos as they are part and parcel of our description.

Date: The piece is dated 1989.

Origin: Purchased at an estate sale in Southeastern Pennsylvania.

Size: The bird measures ~8 1/4" long with the base being ~3 1/4" by ~2 3/4" and is ~2 1/4" high. The entire piece is ~6" at its highest point. The piece weighs about 5.7 ounces.

Maker: Glenn Prince.

Marks: Signed on the bottom of the base in black ink "Glenn Prince '89" in block letters (see last photo).

Condition: The piece is in very good condition with minimum wear or losses to the finish. The piece has no breaks or repairs. It has a few scratches to the surface and minor losses to the paint, which given the way the piece is painted blends in very well. The piece is slightly soiled but nothing of true concern. The bark on the base is peeling off in a few spots and there are a few spots where it is lost. This is minimal and inconsequential and the piece still look great. This is a solid, and beautiful piece with lots of character, and would display very nicely in your collection or make for a nice decorative accent. Please see photos for additional condition information.
