1994 Carved Wood and Painted Shore Bird Driftwood Base John & Patty Waterfield

Description: A hand carved and polychrome painted wood bird. This extremely well done and nicely detailed carving is dated 1994. It is of a shore bird, possibly an Oystercatcher standing on a piece of driftwood. The bird is black and white in color with red beak and red wire legs. It has black eyes and black dots on its white bottom. The carving shows a bird standing, with what we believe are wire legs, on a brown colored driftwood base. The bird is long an elegant. It is pained in black with dark brown highlights suggesting wings and feathers on the back. The bird is signed in black ink "John + Patty Waterfield 94" in two lines on the bottom of the base. It is in great condition with no observable damage. A great piece to add to your collection or use as a decorative accent. Date: The piece is dated 1994. 

Origin: Purchased at an estate auction in Southeastern Pennsylvania. 

Size: The bird itself is ~5 3/4" long, ~1 1/2" at its widest, with the base being ~4 1/4" by ~2" and ~1 1/2" at its highest. The piece is ~4 3/4" at its highest. The piece weighs about 3 ounces. 

Maker: John & Patty Waterfield. 

Marks: Marked in black ink "John + Patty Waterfield 94" in two lines on the bottom of the base. 

Distinguishing Characteristics - Most Interesting About The Piece: Truly a nice piece of wood carving, which would make a worthy addition to your collection or as a decorative accent in your home. 

Condition: The carving is in excellent condition, with no breaks, cracks, chips, or repairs. The piece has no appreciable loss to the colors and is just great looking.
