Antique Carved Wood Ladle with Long Handle Beautiful Light Brown Finish

  • $ 117.77

Description: A beautiful and rather uncommon antique wooden wood ladle. The ladle, which appears to be carved from a single piece of wood, has a long handle emanating from a large and shallow bowl. The handle, which appears to be integral to the bowl is cylindrical in shape, long, and has carved decorative lines near the end. The bowl itself is rather large (~7 1/4" in diameter and is ~2 1/4" high) and circular in shape. The entire piece appears to have a light brown colored finish and is great looking. The piece has a white piece of rope, which was added later, attached to the end of the handle. A very unusual piece worthy of a spot in your collection. Please carefully review the photos as they are part and parcel of our description.

Date: Uncertain but most likely late 1800's to mid 1900's.

Origin: Purchased at an estate auction in southern New Jersey.

Size: The ladle measures ~23 1/4" long, while the bowl is ~7 1/4" in diameter and is ~2 1/4" deep. The piece weighs slightly over 8 ounces.

Maker: Unknown.

Marks: Unmarked.

Distinguishing Characteristics - Most Interesting About The Piece: This is a nicely done wood carved ladle, which would be a great addition to any collection.

Condition: The ladle is in very good original condition with no modifications or repairs. The piece has some ware, some old losses to wood along the edge of the ladle, a spot which is left from a knot in the wood on the inside of the bowl, and a short (~3/4") and very tight age crack to the edge of the bowl near the handle, which is very difficult to see. The piece has acquired a nice age patina and finish looks great. It is generally clean, is solid, beautiful and really looks good. Please see photos for additional condition information.
