Antique Cut Plank Maple Wood Food Cutting Board Pig Form Red Paint
Description: A nice carved maple wood cutting board. The cutting board is shaped as a pig with two short legs and a rounded tail. The tail has a hole to allow for hanging. The board has red paint along the edge. The board is cut out of a plank and shows extensive use in the form of marks throughout the board. The edges of the board have chips and dings as well as a 1/2" triangle shaped loss of surface wood at the end of the pig's snout. It has A nice pig cutting board with original painted edges to add to your collection. Please carefully review the photos presented as they are part and parcel of our description.
Date: Unknown but it would appear to be from the late 1800s to early 1900s (late 19th century to early twentieth Century).
Origin: Purchased at an estate auction in Lancaster County Pennsylvania.
Size: Measures ~16" long, ~8" high, and is ~3/4" thick. The piece weighs slightly over one pound and 12 ounces.
Maker: Unknown.
Marks: Unmarked.
Distinguishing Characteristics - Most Interesting About The Piece: Truly a nice piece of wood cutting board, which would make a worthy addition to your collection.
Condition: The cutting board is in good condition, with no breaks, cracks, major losses, or repairs. It is a bit soiled and has many scratches to the surface suggesting extensive use. The edges of the board have chips and dings as well as a 1/2" triangle shaped loss of surface wood at the end of the pig's snout (see 3rd and 4th photo). There are also some losses to the red paint along the edge, but most of the paint is still there.
