Antique Deep Carved Wood Butter Print Heart Radiant Leaf Design Flat-Knob Handel
Description: A beautiful antique turned and hand carved wood wooden butter print. The butter print, which is made of a single piece of wood, has a deep carved heart design with leaves radiating from its top. The rim of the print is chip carved with a teeth pattern. The print has a short flat type knob handle. A rather unusual relatively small butter print. It would appear that the carver inadvertently carved the heart a bit too deep so it broke through the back of the print. Be that as it may, this is an unusual antique and very well carved bitter print worthy of a spot in your collection. Distinguishing Characteristics - Most Interesting About The Piece: Very good antique and unusual handmade butter print with a nice and rather well executed design. A nice antique butter print, which would make a great addition to your collection.
Condition: The piece is in good condition given its age and utilitarian function. It has an age crack which can be seen to the right at about 3 o'clock. It also appears that the carver inadvertently carved the heart too deep until it went through the back as can be seen in the photos. Other than that, the print has wear commensurate with its age and utilitarian function. It has general wear, with loss of the some of the tooth design along the edge of the print. The piece has some soiling and dark patina commensurate with its age and use, which makes it look great. Finally, the piece has scratches and minor dings throughout. All these issues do not distract from the beauty and quality of the piece. Please see photos to appreciate its beauty and for additional condition information.
