Antique Deeply Carved Wood Maple Sugar Mold Floral and Geometric Designs

  • $ 199.99

Description:  A circa early to mid 1800's carved wood maple sugar mold. The rectangular carved wood piece has three deep carved designs each showing some sort of floral motif with some geometric lines. The piece, which is made of what looks like a relatively thin slab of hard wood has developed a very nice age patina. Two of the designs are 3 5/8" by 2 1/4". The third design is a bit larger being 4 1/4' by 2 1/2". Just a wonderful and nicely done piece of American folk art to add to your Americana Collection. Please carefully review the photos presented as they are part and parcel of our description.

Distinguishing Characteristics - Most Interesting About The Piece: Truly a nice piece of Americana, which would make a worthy addition to your collection of carved wood molds.

Condition: The piece is in very good condition with no breaks or repairs. It does have scratches throughout. It also has pronounced losses at the corners of the board, which have developed a dark patina with age, except for one spot, which represents a newer chip which can be seen in the first and third photo at the top left corner. The piece also has an age crack between the second and third design as you look at the first photo from left to right. This crack  can be seen in the fourth and fifth photos too. Other than that one could say that the piece is in very good condition with wear commensurate with its age and utilitarian function. Please see photos for additional condition information.
