Antique Forged Wrought Iron 26” Long Butcher Flesh Fork with Loop Hanger

Description: A beautiful antique handmade rather very long two-pronged meat or flesh fork. The pieces is made of forged wrought iron with a round or tubular handle which is flattened at both ends, by the prongs and the hanging loop. The handles end in a round flat loop on top to hang from. The bottom portion of the handle is flattened and goes into the two prongs of the fork. The piece is rather long, much longer than the norm, being almost 26 1/2" long. This is a great looking high quality antique butcher tool which seldom come by and would make a great addition to any collection. Date: Uncertain, but most likely mid to late 1800's.

Origin: Purchased at an antiques auction in Southeastern, Pennsylvania.

Size: The fork measures ~26 1/2" long, is ~2 3/4" at its widest and its prongs are ~4" long. The piece weighs slightly over 14 ounces.

Maker: Unknown.

Marks: Unmarked.

Distinguishing Characteristics - Most Interesting About The Piece: A nice well made wrought iron butcher utensil that is very good looking and would be a great addition to any collection.

Condition: Fork is in excellent condition with no cracks or repairs. It has some scratches, some pitting, and minor signs of oxidation commensurate with its age and utilitarian function. It has a beautiful black look and a nice age patina. Please see photos for additional condition information.
