Contemporary Beautiful Stoneware Vase Salt Glazed and Decorated Blue on Brown Foliate Design Signed LCR 2011

Description:  A beautiful and very unusual in shape and coloring stoneware vase. This vase, which is salt glazed and decorated with cobalt blue floral motif is made in the best tradition of American blue on gray salt glazed pottery of days gone by. This nice size piece wheel thrown and salt glazed. The piece is decorated with a cobalt blue over brown background having lighter dots throughout. The blue decoration is a repeating foliate design along the top bulge and along the circumference of the exterior near the rim. The vase has a beautiful shaped rim and a flat round base. The inside is also glazed with lighter colored brown background colored glaze. The piece is obviously a handmade wheel thrown piece and was obviously made by an accomplished Lancaster County Pennsylvania potter. Origin: Lancaster, Pennsylvania.

Size: Measures ~4" diameter at the base, ~3 1/2" diameter at the top, is ~8 5/8" high, and is about 5 7/8" at its widest spot. The piece weighs two pounds.

Marks: Signed LCR 2011 in cursive calligraphy on the base.

Distinguishing Characteristics - Most Interesting About The Piece: This is a very well made and very nice typical Americana piece of stoneware.

Condition: Excellent like new condition with no cracks, repairs, chips, hairlines, or crazing to the glaze. In addition, as is the case with all these primitive pottery pieces, the piece has a few of the usual defects you would expect such as pops, unglazed areas and uneven spots.
