Contemporary Carved and Painted Wood Folk Art Bird On Swing Unsigned Alan Khor

Description: A nice folk art carved solid wood sculpture of a yellow bird with red wings on a swing or perch. The body of the bird is yellow in color with the wings painted in red with yellow dots, the tail having red lines to suggest feathers, and the eye are also painted in red with black centers. The bird's wings are carved on the sides of the bird. The bird has wire legs and is standing on a wooden perch attached to a wire swing which can be hung. The wire legs of the bird are wrapped around a round piece of wood having a curved wire attached to both ends of the cylindrical piece of wood and having a small raised portion to hang from. The entire body of the bird shows marks indicative of carving and is just great looking. The piece is unsigned and is not date, but we are certain it is a carving by Alan Khor from Montgomery County Pennsylvania. Please carefully review the photos as they are part and parcel of our description.  

Date: Unknown but we believe the piece was carved in the period 1980-2010.  

Origin: Purchased at an estate auction in Southeastern Pennsylvania.  

Size: The bird measures ~4" long and the swing is ~4 1/4" high by ~3 1/2" wide. The piece weighs about one ounce.  

Maker: Unknown, but the piece is very much in the style of Alan Khor carvings.  

Marks: Unmarked.  

Distinguishing Characteristics - Most Interesting About The Piece: Truly a nice and interesting piece of primitive Americana folk art, which would make a great addition to your collection.  

Condition: Although the piece is unsigned, we believe the piece is very much made in the style of Alan Khor of Montgomery County Pennsylvania. The carving is in excellent condition, with no breaks, cracks, losses, or repairs. It does have some minor scratches, a few minor dings to the surface, and some minor soiling.
