Contemporary Framed Folk Art Hand Painted On Velvet Pennsylvania Dutch Style Theorem Giant Tulip and Two Angels By Bill Rank

Description: A very decorative and colorful framed oil on velveteen primitive painting depicting a giant tulip flower in a pot with two angels flanking it, one on each side. The tulip flower has maroon, yellow, black, and brown coloring. It is on a stem colored in green with green leaves. The flower is emanating from a yellow and brown pot. There are two angels standing, one on each side of the tulip, pointing at the flower. They are both colored in yellow with black hair and black highlights to their dresses. This large Pennsylvania Dutch style theorem comes in a nice wooden brown with light colored sponged highlights colored frame and is covered with glass for protection. The painting is very colorful with black, yellow, brown, maroon, and green all on an off-white background. The back of the frame is covered with brown paper and has a wire to hang from. The piece is signed Bill Rank but is not dated. Mr. Rank, an artist from Southeastern Pennsylvania, lived in the period 1921-2000. The piece was probably done in the 1950s-1980s. A nice piece of American Folk Art in the best Pennsylvania Dutch tradition to add to your collection. Please carefully review the photos presented as they are part and parcel of our description.

Origin: Purchased at an estate auction in Southeastern Pennsylvania, USA.

Size: The piece measures ~17 3/4" by ~15 3/4" and the framed piece weighs about 2 pound and 10 ounces. Artist: William (Bill) Rank.

Marks: Signed bottom right of the pot "Bill Rank".

Distinguishing Characteristics - Most Interesting About The Piece: This is a beautiful and very nice decorative primitive Pennsylvania Dutch style art piece. It would display very well in your collection or can be used as an accent for your home decor.

Condition: The piece is in excellent condition with no problems that we could find. The frame has a few scratches but nothing to worry about. The paper covering on the back is in good condition with a few pulls and a few pieces of scotch tape stuck to it. The piece also has two additional holes on the back along the edge above where the wire is suggesting that the wire was installed at a higher level before being moved to its current location. The piece is equipped with the wire needed to hang it making it ready to hang on your wall. A very nice example of Pennsylvania Dutch folk art which would make a good addition to your collection of folk art.
