Description: A hand carved and polychrome painted wood American Folk Art bird. The carving which was done by Alan Khor is dated 1986. Alan Kohr is a resident of Montgomery County Pennsylvania-. The carving shows a bird standing, with a wooden leg, on a wine or reddish-brown colored base that is in the form of a disk. The bird is long an elegant. It is pained in greenish-gray with wine or reddish-brown colored wings having greenish-gray highlights. The bird has red eyes with black centers and a beak with a hint of yellow coloring. The piece is signed A. Kohr 1986 on the bottom of the base in black coloring. It is in great condition with no observable damage. A great piece of folk art to add to your collection. Date: The piece is dated 1986.  Origin: Purchased at an estate auction in Southeastern Pennsylvania.   

Size: The bird itself is ~7 1/4" long, ~2 3/8" at its widest, with the base being ~2 1/2" in diameter and ~3/4" high. The piece is ~5 5/8" at its highest. The piece weighs slightly over 4 ounce.  

Maker: Alan Kohr.  

Marks: Marked A. Kohr 1986 in black on the bottom of the base.  

Distinguishing Characteristics - Most Interesting About The Piece: Truly a nice piece of American folk art in the best tradition of Pennsylvania Dutch art work, which would make a worthy addition to your collection or as a decorative accent in your home.
