Kieffer Wrought Iron Butcher Fork Decorated Handle Heart Shaped Rat Tail Hanger
Description: A beautiful vintage handmade two-pronged butcher meat or flesh fork. The piece is made of forged wrought iron with a tubular and long flattened portion on top as well as a short flattened portion near the prongs. The top flattened portion of the handle is decorated with an engraved floral pattern and ends in a shaped heart with small circles decoration. The heart shaped top has an extending hanger bent backwards that is in the form of a rat tail, to hang from. The flat bottom portion of the handle goes into the two tubular prongs of the fork which have pointed ends. The fork is stamped J KIEFFER on the back of the handle on the flat portion where the hanger is. This is a great looking high quality vintage butcher tool which seldom come by and would make a great addition to any collection. Date: Uncertain, but most likely in the 1970s, when James Kieffer was active.
Origin: Purchased at an antiques auction in Southeastern Pennsylvania.
Size: The fork measures ~17 1/2" long, is ~2" at its widest and its prongs are ~3" long. The piece weighs about 605 ounces.

Distinguishing Characteristics - Most Interesting About The Piece: A nice well made wrought iron butcher utensil that is very good looking and would be a great addition to any collection.
Condition: Fork is in very good condition with no cracks or repairs. It has scratches, some pitting, and signs of oxidation commensurate with its age and the fact that it is made of forged iron.
