Old Turned Single Piece Chip Carved Wood Butter Print American Eagle Ball Grip
Description: A beautiful antique turned and chip carved single piece soft wood wooden butter print. The butter print, which is made of a single piece of wood, has the very desirable design of an American eagle with wings to its side and fanned tail. The eagle is in the center within a angular leaf design along the edge. The detailed design shows feathers in the eagle's chest and the top of the wings, claws or talons, stars surrounding the eagle's head, and details in the wing and the tail. The beak of the bird seems to have been botched by the carver and shows no details. The print has a round flat surface with nice carved design of the eagle. The eagle show lots of intricate details. The print has a ball grip handle. Again, the entire piece is made of a single piece of wood. Please carefully review the photos presented as they are part and parcel of our description.
Date: Unknown but most likely late 1800s to early 1900s (late 19th century to early 20th century).

Condition: The piece is in good condition given its age and utilitarian function. It has general wear and minor losses along the edge of the print itself. The beak of the bird seems to have been botched by the carver and shows no details, but rather a hole where it is supposed to be. Other than that, the design is very well executed and shows extensive details. The face of the print has darkened and has oily residue. The piece has some soiling and general wear to the surface.
