  • $ 77.77

Description: A beautiful crisp uncirculated five pesos banknote issued by "El Banco Peninsular Mexicano" in Mexico. This is the April 1st, 1914 issue series A banknote. The banknote is printed in black over a yellow and orange underprint. The front depicts a locomotive to the left and men working on a dock with a ship in the background to the right. The front also displays the date, denomination, and three signatures. The front also indicates that it was issued in Merida. The back is orange with allegorical figures at the center facing left and right. The back has a blue treasury seal and a square seal saying 2 CENT. This particular note has the serial number 229596 printed in black twice on the front but not on the back. This is a scarce note in such high grade. Krause's catalog does not list any past the grade extremely fine. Just a great scarce note to add to your collection. Please carefully review the scans presented as they are part and parcel of our description.

Date: 1 April 1914.

Printer: American Bank Note Company of New York.

Size: The banknote measures ~6" by ~2 3/4".

Pick Number: S465a and is listed in Frampton Opus as M561.

Condition: I would grade this note as crisp uncirculated and showing fresh embossing throughout. The note is in excellent condition and great looking with no signs of wear. The note retains all of its original stiffness and crispiness. It has no folds, no tears, no graffiti, no pinholes and no repairs. The edges are intact and show no roughness. The corners are fully squared and intact. Just a nice scarce, in this condition, banknote for the most advanced collector of Mexican banknotes. Please see photos for additional condition information.
