1950 Lebanon Fifty Piastres Banknote Temples of Jupiter and Mercury in Baalbek Pick Number 43 Very Fine Currency Note
Description: A nice very fine banknote from Lebanon. This is the 6.11.1950 fifty piastres, representing the last issue of this note. The note is issued by the Lebanese Republic. The front of the note, which is green on multicolor underprint, is in Arabic and shows image of the ruins of the Temple of Jupiter in Baalbek. The front also shows the denomination, the date, and two signatures. The back is also green with French writing and shows the ruins of the Temple of Mercury again in Baalbek. It also shows the denomination. This particular note has the serial number 132267 and is series "Zane." The note has no watermark that we could find. It is relatively small in size measuring ~4 3/4" by ~2 3/4". Please carefully review the scans presented as they are part and parcel of our description.
Date: 15 February 1944.
Printer: Unknown, but issued by the Lebanese Republic.
Size: The banknotes measure ~4 3/4" by ~2 3/4".
Pick Number: P43 and is listed in the Banknote Book as B310b.
Condition: I would grade the banknote as very fine. The note is soiled and has darkened a bit from circulation and age. It has several vertical and horizontal folds. It also shows general wrinkling. The note is intact with no tears or splits. It has no pinholes, no graffiti, and no objectionable stains (it does have a few minor light stains). The corners are intact with minimum rounding but have bumps and minor folds. The edges show minor roughness especially at the ends of the folds. A nice example of this scarce note to add to your collection. Please see the photos for additional condition information.
