1998 Carved Wood Canvasback Duck Decoy By Bill Streaker North East Maryland

Description: A beautiful painted carved wood duck decoy. This is a decoy of a canvasback drake or male duck. The piece is brown and gray in color with white highlights and a black beak or bill. The decoy has a lead weight attached to the bottom as well as a loop to the front of the bottom. The decoy has no carved details except for general shape and curves within the head. The wings are also outline in color with sponged brown color, white and black coloring in highlights. The decoy is signed and dated by the artist on the bottom and has a brass plaque affixed to the bottom with the name of the artist and his location. Please carefully review the photos as they are part and parcel of our description.  

Date: The piece is dated 1998. 

Origin: Purchased at an estate sale in southeastern Pennsylvania.  

Size: The decoy measures ~13 1/4" long, ~5 3/4" at its widest, and ~8 1/4" at its highest point. The piece weighs over 2 pounds and 3 ounces.  

Maker: William (Bill) A. Streaker.  

Marks: The decoy is signed William A. Streaker 98 on the bottom in black and has a brass plaque affixed to the bottom with the name Bill Streaker North East MD in two lines in raised lettering. See last four photo.  

Condition: The piece is in excellent condition with minimum wear or losses to the paint. The piece has no breaks or repairs. It has a few minor scratches and dings to the surface but these are difficult to see and are at a minimum. The piece is a bot soiled and has few minor stains, but again nothing of consequence. Be that as it may, this is a very nice piece which would display well in any collection or represent a nice decorative accent at your vacation house at the lake.
