2006 Painted Tin or Toleware Kitchen Hanging Match Holder Strawberries, Floral & Foliate Decoration Artist Signed

  • $ 69.99

Description:   A beautiful artist signed hand painted tin kitchen hanging match holder.  The holder is shaped as what we believe is a curvaceous woman with a rectangular container at her feet. The round top (the head) has corrugation (simulating hair?) along the edge. The entire piece is colored in a beautiful dark yellow paint and has a red and green liner border along the edges. The top of the piece has a hole to hang from and is decorated with a hand painted colorful design depicting beautiful red strawberries, green vines with beautifully detailed leaves and small white flowers.  This is a design of a kitchen implement which is very common in Pennsylvania Dutch kitchens of days past. The entire piece is colored in a nice antiqued yellow coloring with the edges having green and red line accent. The back of the piece as well as its bottom are undecorated. The bottom of the holder is painted in yellow and is signed and dated by the artist. Just a beautiful piece of Americana to display.
