20th Century Folk Art Carved Cherry Wood Ring Neck Pheasant Female Glass Eyes
Description: A hand carved cherry wood Folk Art bird. The carving, which is not painted, has a smooth body and glass eyes. The carving shows the female pheasant standing, with metal legs, on a rectangular wood base with carved toes integral to the base. The bird has a fanned tail with nicely carved feathers. The carving shows many details in the wings, the head, and the neck body junction. The piece is marked with the letter "C" having a line with two teeth through it. This carving is very well done and is in great condition. A great piece of folk art to add to your collection. Date: Unknown but most likely late1900s (late 20th century).
Origin: Purchased at an estate auction in Southeastern Pennsylvania. Size: The bird itself is ~8" long and 9" high. The base measures ~3 7/8" by ~3". The piece weighs slightly over 14 ounces.
Maker: Unknown.
Marks: Marked with the letter C with a line having two teeth through it on the under side of the tail. See the last two photos for details.

Condition: The carving is in excellent condition, with no breaks, cracks, chips, or repairs. The piece has some minor scratches and dings as well as general soiling.
