Antique Cobalt Blue Colored Beautiful Wedgwood Jasperware Creamer Spout and Applied Handle

Description: A beautiful cobalt colored jasperware Wedgwood creamer with a spout and applied handle. The creamer, which displays Wedgwood markings from the period 1891-1908, is ~4" high, has a round flat and footed base which rises with inwards slanted straight sides to a rolled rim having a spout. There is a raised ridge about 1 1/2" below the rim and the area between the rim and the ridge is decorated with beautiful vine pattern. The piece has a spout and an applied rope handle. The circumference of the creamer is decorated with the usual Greek allegorical figures consisting of women standing one holding an urn another holding a bird, a third holding flowers and a fourth holding a bow with a deer behind her. There is a cherub standing on a pedestal. There is also a tree, flowers and a vessel with a fire in it. All of the decorations are in white relief over the dark blue colored background. This is a very nice piece that is over 100 years old and in very good shape. The bottom of the creamer is marked "Wedgwood" and "England" in two separate stamps with the number 42 and other characters all stamped into the base. A very nice piece of cobalt blue Wedgwood to add to your collection. Please carefully review the photos presented as they are part and parcel of our description.

Date: Uncertain, but the marking suggest sometime between 1891-1908.

Origin: Staffordshire, England.

Size: The piece measures ~2 5/8" diameter at the base, ~2 3/8" diameter on top, is ~3 1/2" at its widest including the spout and handle, and is ~4" high. The piece weighs a bit iver 8 ounces.

Maker: Wedgwood Pottery.

Marks: Impressed on the base the word "Wedgwood" and "England" Separately and also impressed with the number "42" and other characters.

Distinguishing Characteristics - Most Interesting About The Piece: Beautiful art pottery old creamer of beautiful design and good color. It would make a great addition to your collection of Wedgwood Jasperware pottery.

Condition: The piece is in very good condition with no breaks, crack, hairlines, or repairs. The piece is clean with the design being well preserved, crisp and beautiful. The piece has a minor blemishes here and there, which can be seen in the photos. The inside of the rim has very minor roughness, which we are uncertain if it is an artifact of the making or age acquired roughness. Other than that, this is truly a very nice piece in great condition given its age and utilitarian purpose. A beautiful piece to add to your collection.
