Antique Primitive Thick Butter Print Deep Carved Wheat Sheaf Design with Handel

Description: A beautiful antique lathe turned wood wooden butter print. The butter print, which is made of a relatively thick piece of round wood, has an attached knob-like handle. The print has a deep carved design representing a wheat sheaf. The print has a large flat surface with a deep carved design of wheat sheaf surrounded by plants on either side. The design is framed in double incised lines along the edge of the print. The print has a knob like handle on top. The print has may age cracks on the front (through the design) and on the back. However, the piece is solid and has lots of character. Please carefully review the photos carefully as they are part and parcel of our description. 

Date: Mid to late 1800s (mid to late 19th century). 

Origin: Purchased at an estate sale in Southeastern Pennsylvania. 

Size: Measures ~4 3/8" in diameter at the design part and is ~1" thick. The entire piece is ~3 1/2" highh including the handle. The piece weighs about 6.8 ounces. 

Maker: Unknown. 

Marks: Unmarked. 

Distinguishing Characteristics - Most Interesting About The Piece: Very interesting antique butter print with a nice design and unusual appearance. This is a nice antique butter print having a nice warm dark patina, which would make a nice addition to your collection. 

Condition: The piece is in very good condition given its age. The piece does not appear to have seen much use. The print has no repairs or losses. It has many age cracks throughout on top and bottom, which can be seen in the photos. The piece is deeply carved and is solid. It also has developed a nice warm age patina which makes it look great.
