Antique Single Piece Lathe Turned Carved Wood Butter Print Unusual Pear Design Knob Shaped Handle

Description: A beautiful antique single piece lathe turned and chip carved wood wooden butter print. The butter print, which is made of a single piece of wood, has the very unusual design of a pear in the center of the field. The piece is decorated with a deep carved fruit with two leaves with it. The design is framed by an uncommon diamond check carved rim band. The print has a round flat surface with a deep carved design of the fruit. The fruit and leaves show lots of details. The print has a knob like handle on top. The entire piece appears is made of a single piece of wood. A nice, well done, and rather unusual butter print to add to your collection. Date: Late 1800s to early 1900s (Late 19th century to early 20th century). 

Origin: Purchased at an auction in Southeastern Pennsylvania. 

Size: Measures ~3 1/2" in diameter at the design part and is ~3" high. The print weighs slightly over 3 ounces.

Marks: Unmarked. 

Distinguishing Characteristics - Most Interesting About The Piece: Very good antique butter print with a nice and rather well executed design. A nice antique butter print, which would make a great addition to your collection. 

Condition: The piece is in very good condition with minimal wear and no observable losses. It has some soiling and dark stained areas but has no cracks. The top of the piece has white colored residue on the handle. It also has general wear, with some roughness at the top of the knob like handle. The piece has a nice age patina and looks great. It may have never seen real use or very little use for its intended purpose. A great unusual piece which would make a great addition to your collection.
