Antique Yellow Pine Wooden Primitive Candle Box with Slide Lid Red Wash Finish
Description: A nice and well preserved antique yellow pine wood primitive candle slide lid box. The box is made of what we believe is southern yellow pine and was possibly made in the southern USA. The box has an old red wash and linseed oil finish giving it a warm and nice reddish- brown colored exterior. The sliding lid has an extended grasp ear and a half-moon thumbnail pull. The box has a single dovetail cut in the center of the sides and a cut nail mounted poplar bottom. The lid is a simple constructed lid which slides through channels carved at the top oof the sides. The box is finished on the outside and not on the inside. The back of the lid has pencil writing in the form of numbers, which can be seen in the photos. This box has a very primitive form, but is still in very good condition after being around for almost 200 years.
