Contemporary Wrought Iron Long Handled Spatula Tulip Shaped Blade By David Court
Description: A beautiful contemporary handmade long handled spatula. The piece is made of wrought iron with a part tubular and part flat long handle. The tubular part of the handle is rivetted to a tulip shaped blade with what looks like brass rivets. The opposite end of the handle is flattened and is decorated on the top side with a diamond and dots pattern and ends in a wrapped hook hanger. The back of the flattened portion of the handle is stamped with the name of the maker "DAVID A. CPOURT". The spatula is in very good condition but shows rust signs of the blade, which can be seen in the photos, and some minor rust signs on the handle. A well made and beautiful kitchen tool, which would make a great addition to any collection. Please carefully review photos as they are part and parcel of our description.
Date: Uncertain, but most likely late 1900s (late 20th century).
Origin: Purchased at an antiques auction in Southeastern Pennsylvania, where it was most likely was made.
Size: The spatula measures ~19 3/4" long with the blade being ~4 1/2" long and ~4" at its widest. The piece weighs about 8 ounces.

Marks: Stamped on the back of the handle "DAVID A. COURT".
Distinguishing Characteristics - Most Interesting About The Piece: A nice well made wrought iron kitchen utensil that is very good looking and would be a great addition to any collection.
Condition: The spatula is in overall good condition with no cracks or repairs. It has scratches, surface rust especially on the blade, and minor signs of oxidation on the handle commensurate with its age and utilitarian function. It has a beautiful dark look and a nice age patina. It could use a good cleaning and would make a nice addition to your collection or could be used at your next barbeque.
