Halcyon Days Enamels England Oval Box Children of the New Millennium Holding Box
Description: A beautiful small oval-shaped enamel on copper box by Halcyon Days Enamels of England. This very colorful box has a hinged lid and the box looks very much like the antique (18th century) Battersea enameled patch boxes in shape and profile. The sides as well as the lid of the box are decorated with drawing of children in various clothing from different countries. The colorful children are drawn on a light blue background. Both top and bottom of the box are fitted with brass rings having a hinge on the back and a thumb piece on the front of the lid. The brass rings of both the top and bottom are bright and clean and add to the beauty of the box. The inside of the box is also enameled and is white in color. The inside of the lid has the words "The children of the new Millennium hold our future in their hands" in beautiful black-colored calligraphy. The bottom of the box has the Halcyon Days' maker's mark and the words Box no. 6956 below it again in black color. The box comes with a box lined with material and showing the name of the maker on the inside and outside. The holding box may or may not be the original box in which the enameled box came, since it does not fit tightly in it but rather fits a bot loosely. There is also literature about the revival of 18th century English enameling included in the box. Both the enameled box and the box where it fits as well as the literature are in very good condition.
