Halcyon Days Enamels England Round Box Doves on Branches Design Happy Birthday
Description: A beautiful small round-shaped enamel on copper box by Halcyon Days Enamels of England. This green colored box has a hinged lid that looks very much like the antique (18th century) Battersea enameled patch boxes in shape and profile. The lid of the box is decorated with a colorful transfer depicting the image of two doves perched on branches having green leaves within an oval with the word Happy Birthday above it. There is also red highlights and small red flowers below it. The box has shaped sides, which are green in color and a flat round base. The box is white on the inside with the back of the lid having the image of a floral arrangement with a ribbon. The bottom of the inside is not decorated. Both top and bottom are fitted with brass rings having a hinge on the back and a thumb piece on the front top portion. The inside of the box is also enameled and has a white coloring. Of course, as is always the case with these English enamels these decorations are transfers as opposed to being hand painted. The bottom of the box is also green in color and has the maker's mark. The brass ends of both the top and bottom are clean and add immensely to the beauty of this box. This is a very nice piece and would make a nice addition to your collection of small enameled boxes.
