Halcyon Days Enamels Ltd Edition Box Donald Hamilton Fraser Poinsettia Painting
Description: A vintage beautiful lidded enamel on copper round box by Halcyon Days Enamels of England. The box has straight rising sides with emanating from a round flat base. The box is decorated with colorful transfer paint showing a poinsettia flower in a brown pot with blue, white and black background. The inside of the lid has the notation "POINSETTIA after a painting by Donald Hamilton Fraser ARA". The bottom of the inside has the letters RA in a monogram fashion for Royal Academy of Arts. According to the notation on the bottom of the box this is box number 72 of 100 issued by the Royal Academy of Arts in 1981. The brass hinged lid has an outwards extending thumb piece. Additional Information: According to the internet "Donald Hamilton Fraser, who died on September 2nd, 2009 aged 80, was one of the most successful and well-regarded Modernist painter / printmakers of the immediate postwar generation. He studied at St Martin's School of Art, London from 1949 to 1952, and gained a French Government Scholarship to Paris in 1953 where he lived and worked for two years from 1953 to 1954. In 1957 he became Visiting Tutor at the Royal College of Art, London, where he remained until 1983."
