Description: A hand carved wood and polychrome painted American Folk Art figure. The carving shows a tall bearded man with a tall hat and a robe standing on a flat rectangular base. The man, which represents Santa Clause or father Christmas, was carved, and painted by Doug Shaw of Penryn, Pennsylvania. The figure is wearing an over coat colored in green with a gold and dark red colored edge. Santa has a flesh-colored face and a white long beard as well as white eye brows. His hands are in dark red gloves with the cuffs of the robe having gold and dark red stripes. The piece is signed by the artist on the back near the base. The carving shows quite a bit of details of the face. The entire piece appears to be carved from a single piece of wood. Santa is attached to beige colored flat rectangular base. Just a wonderful and nicely done piece of American Folk Art piece to add to your Americana Collection. Please carefully review the photos presented as they are part and parcel of our description.
Date: Unknown, but most likely late 1900s or early 2000s.
Origin: Penryn, Pennsylvania.
Size: Measures ~7 5/8" high with the base measuring ~3 7/8" by ~1 5/8". The piece weighs about 1.3 ounces.

Distinguishing Characteristics - Most Interesting About The Piece: Truly a nice and colorful piece of Americana, which would make a worthy addition to your collection.
Condition: The carving is in excellent condition, with no breaks, cracks, losses, or repairs. It does have minor scratches and minimal loss to the paint if any. The bottom of the base shows signs of what we believe is old bores by a no longer present wood boring insect. However, the base is intact and solid.
